It is time to dive back into business. September is the month we get back into full swing. It starts with our Board meeting on September 6th with Captain Duane reporting on the initial meeting of the Past Commodores Transition Committee. Other happenings include our booth at the Wooden Boat Festival. Members should drop in to help those manning the booth.
We also have Michael and Jane leading a Cruise to Victoria and Butchart Gardens. They have a lunch planned at the Westcott Shellfish Company. And, on September 9, we have our General Meeting with our Annual Soup and Salad potluck. The September installment of Dale's Boaters Experience Workshop has moved to October. See Dale's update below.
On Saturday, September 27, we have our annual Cruise and Event Planning Meeting. This is an important event to help shape our cruises and events in the coming year.
Let’s give our congratulations to our Cruise Captains from our season. They all provided great planning and preparation for our cruises and fun was had by all. June started with Sue and Paul with the local waters Cruise, Followed by Michael and Jane with Princess Louisa Cruise. In July, Michael and Jane had a drop-in Cruise to Reid Harbor for July Fourth. At the end of the month Eileen and Bill once again organized the Anacortes Art Festival Cruise. August is highlighted by the 13 day Gulf Islands 3 Cruise Captained by Jim and Susie. Nanaimo with 35 mph winds provided some extra experiences. All said and done, this summer had a complete Cruise Schedule.
Please think about how each one of you can help with our move. The Transition Committee will have more input on how you can pitch in shortly.
Commodore, Scott Abbey
There are good ships and there are wood ships. The ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships are Friendships, and may that always be.
