2026 PTYC Safety Training is one you won't want to miss!

We offer you two fantastic educational sessions that will enhance boating safety.
The morning session from 10:30 to 12:15 will be taught by Bradley Brooks, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, focusing on what your shipmates should know if they find themselves "Suddenly in Command". This 90 minute seminar will provide essential safety information so that your cruising partners will be able to properly respond in the event the skipper becomes incapacitated. Learn to assess and stabilize the situation, operate the vessel, and summon any required assistance. This is great information for skipper and crew alike!
Juan de Fuca
The afternoon session begins at 12:45 featuring Captain Roger Slade, owner/operator of TowBoatUS operations on the northern Olympic Peninsula. Roger will provide in-depth insight on "Crossing the Straits" of Juan de Fuca. He will share information to us better assess sea conditions and weather patterns that will impact a safe crossing of the straits. He will also talk about the best routes for crossing and alternative considerations. Since he has been dedicated to serving north Olympic boaters for 25 years, he has an abundance of experience to draw upon and will share stories of rescues and lessons to be learned so that we might avoid having to call for his services.
